Greetings from the President
It’s hard to believe that another year has already past, and Portfolio Night is upon us once again. I think the ihaveanidea team and I must still be jetlagged from last year’s event! Nevertheless, we’re excited to be bringing the seventh incarnation of Portfolio Night, the world’s largest advertising portfolio review.
Since its inception in 2003, Portfolio Night has brought together thousands of eager young creatives from every corner of the globe, to meet with their idols, their mentors, their potential employers. For creative directors, Portfolio Night is not just about offering advice or a job to a particularly sharp junior. It’s about joining with their peers across the planet to give back to their industry and to ensure the next generation of superstars has an excellent head start as they prepare to pass the baton.
It would be foolish to not acknowledge the serious economic situation presently affecting the global advertising industry. We at ihaveanidea firmly believe that tough times beget fantastic innovation, and year after year, Portfolio Night brings out the freshest, most innovative young talent on the planet. In 2009, Portfolio Night is more relevant and crucial than ever before.
But enough of doom and gloom; Portfolio Night has always been and will continue to be a celebration of what our industry can do if we all work together to raise the bar for the next generation. On June 11, the sun will rise on various cities around the world, and we will once again do our little bit to bring about positive change in the ad world.
Change seems to be pretty in style these days.
